Tasting Note
This is a wine for sophisticated drinkers looking for something of quality and distinctive character. Notes of Chinese bayberry, ripe plum, cherry with hints of coffee and leather. Medium body; ripe and juicy on the palate. Fine grained tannins. Lingering finish of fermented cherries.

Decant 20 mins. Serve at 18°C - 21°C
Vinification
Vines are at least 25 years old. Hybrid varietal (European Vitis vinifera vine and American Vitis riparia). Manual harvest into 16kg baskets. Hand-selected clusters. Flesh is removed before fermentation. Fermentation at 24-26°C in stainless steel tanks. 1+ years on French and American oak. Estate bottled.
Climate and Soil
Typically 8-22°C. Lows 4-5°C; highs 26-27°C. Humidity 60-85%. 11-13.5 hrs sun per day. 850mm rain per year. Harvest in July. Sandy soil; fine and coarse sand. Good drainage. High in mineral content, especially iron; soil has a dull red appearance. Weakly alkaline. Natural fertiliser added during winter.
