Safety Measures on On-site Construction / Dismantling Work

<p>To highlight Hong Kong’s advantages as an international innovation and technology hub as well as the business platform for smart city technologies, the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council will co-organise an inaugural<strong> InnoEX</strong> in April 2023. Riding on the past success of the HKTDC International ICT Expo, InnoEX will be a prominent one-stop I&amp;T event encompassing insights from influential tech experts and thought leaders, showcase of cutting-edge technologies and disruptive innovations, as well as business exchanges, facilitating regional and cross-sector collaborations among enterprises and government administrations, with a special focus in Asia. InnoEX will be one of the core programmes under the inaugural ‘Business of Innovation and Technology Week’.</p><p>InnoEX will adopt the EXHIBITION+ hybrid model with the physical exhibition to be held on 12-15 April 2023 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, and the online platform to open from 12-22 April 2023, offering participants a more comprehensive and effective exchange and business matching platform both in person and online. HKTDC Organises Brand-New InnoEX

<div>In order to maintain the site safety of events held at the Hong Kong Convention &amp; Exhibition Centre, with immediate effect, a new safety measure has been implemented. This new measure is in-line with the relevant regulations implemented by Labour Department and Occupational Safety &amp; Health Council. Details are as below:- </div><ol><li>If the construction/dismantling work is carried out at <span style="text-decoration: underline;">2 meters or more above the ground, contractors should use high reach equipment</span>, such as metal scaffolding. In addition, the scaffold shall not be used on a construction site unless the <a href="https://event.hktdc.com/resources/fair/0910/hkjewellery/s/200/1258715408776_CSSR-F5.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><span style="color: #0000ff;">Form 5</span> </a>report has been made by a competent person. This form should be displayed in a prominent location of the scaffold (<a href="https://event.hktdc.com/resources/fair/0910/hkjewellery/s/200/1258715408776_CSSR-F5.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> <span style="color: #0000ff;">sample of the form is attached for reference</span> </a>), specifying the location, the extend of the scaffold on the site and a statement to the effect that the scaffold is in safe working order, strength and stability.</li><li>Workers are <span style="text-decoration: underline;">required to wear safety belt</span> while construction activities are carried out at 2 meters or more above the ground.</li><li>If this rule is not observed, HKCEC and HKTDC will have the right to stop the relevant construction activity immediately.</li></ol><div>You are kindly requested to comply with the above safety measure and inform your contractor accordingly.</div>
