The IP in dispute today may involve exceptionally focused advancement in an arcane scientific discipline or may contain a plethora of technologies from many engineering fields. Pertinent questions that arise include: How does one manage consulting and testifying experts effectively in a case? How much “testing” or “analysis” should one undertake? What should one expect from experts from different backgrounds, expertise or industries? In this short talk, we will share best practices, recommendations and common pitfalls to avoid in order to maximize value and increase the chances of a favorable outcome.

Anti-Trust Issues in IP Context
The European Court of Justice in the case of Eco Swiss China Time Ltd. v Benetton International NV held that arbitral tribunal was empowered to hear disputes related to competition law. A major area for conflict between IP and competition law is the licensing of standard essential patents. Many cases have lead to arbitration or disputes in the courts. In this session, the speaker will update audience on the state of the law governing the interface between competition law and enforcement of IP rights.
