We are showcasing AirGo™ Vision at the Hong Kong International Optical Fair this year to look for cross-over cooperation opportunities with brand owners and retailers from all over the world. Equipped with a camera, AirGo™ Vision is the world’s first smart eyewear with ChatGPT-4 functionality and provides instant responses to what you see. We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to the HKTDC for arranging pre-fair interviews for us to increase our exposure in both local and Mainland Chinese media and inviting me to speak at the smart eyewear seminar held at the fair. All these efforts have drawn more buyers to visit our booth and try our new model. We have been busy answering customers’ enquiries. Due to more new functions as compared to AirGo™ 3 AI smart glasses, AirGo™ Vision has attracted a lot of interest from international buyers. We expect more than 10 buyers from Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mainland China, Malaysia and the UK will form partnerships with us. As smart glasses are becoming lighter with more functionalities, they will gradually replace traditional eyewear. AirGo™ Vision appeals not only to young people but also to the elderly and visual impaired people. We see new business opportunities in the silver market. We are satisfied with the fair’s results so far.

The brand concept of MASAHIROMARUYAMA is ‘unfinished art’. While classical frame designs are symmetrical, my asymmetric frames are ‘unfinished’, creating evocative and eccentric designs. I am happy to showcase my frame designs at the Hong Kong International Optical Fair for the first time. The Hong Kong fair provides an important platform for me to open up the Asian market. My optical frames are all handmade in Japan. I have connected with a lot of new buyers who are retailers from Hong Kong, India, Italy, Mainland China and Southeast Asia. Five new buyers from Hong Kong, India and Italy have placed trial orders worth US$30,000 in total for our optical frames. We expect they’ll place more orders after testing their market response. The fair’s results are better than our expectation.

Big Horn is a renowned brand for exceptional craftsmanship, innovative designs and high quality. The Brand Name Gallery provides a perfect platform for us to promote our brand and introduce various stylish designs to international buyers. As Big Horn is quite famous in Europe and the US, we hope to promote this brand to Asian buyers through the fair. The number of buyers visiting our booth has increased by 10% as compared to last year. We have met with more new buyers from Mainland China and Southeast Asia. A new buyer from Malaysia has placed an onsite order for our products. We expect we can form partnerships with 8-10 new distributors after the fair and the sales turnover generated by this year’s fair will grow by 50% over last year’s fair. The Click2Match platform has given us an extra opportunity to meet with new buyers while the Scan2Match feature has generated new sales leads for us to follow up. The Green Solutions Supplier label also helps us to attract buyers looking for eco-friendly products especially from Europe.

Our company almost went bankrupt in 2015, but it was able to survive after I had borrowed money from my friend to join the Hong Kong International Optical Fair in 2015 and earned the first pot of gold from the fair. Since then, we have been participating in this fair with our business growing bigger and bigger and the size of our booth gradually increasing from 12 square metres in 2015 to 72 square metres now. Our optical frames are exported worldwide, with Europe as our major market. At this year’s fair, we have connected with new buyers from Australia, South America and Southeast Asia. Our new acetate models designed for Southeast Asian consumers are well-liked by buyers from Indonesia, Japan, Korea and Vietnam. After taking participation costs into account, we are happy to break even on the first day of the fair. We estimate that our onsite orders from both new and existing customers this year will increase by 50% over last year. More deals will be closed after the fair.

At this year’s fair, our innovative optical frames and attractive booth design have drawn the attention of new buyers coming from Europe, Southeast Asia and the US.We expect seven to eight new buyers will place orders for our products after the fair. The Scan2Match feature which is unavailable in other optical fairs helps us to identify potential buyers such as a new buyer from New Zealand. The Hong Kong International Optical Fair is the first international optical fair that we have joined because Hong Kong is an important gateway for us to enter the Asian market. Asia is a huge market for Kubota Glass because the myopic epidemic is evident in this region. Kubota Glass utilises AR technology to achieve myopic defocus, thereby suppressing the user’s axial length and preventing the progression of myopia. We have noticed a strong demand for Kubota Glass from Asian customers at the Hong Kong International Optical Fair. Buyers from Hong Kong, India, Korea, Mainland China, Malaysia and Taiwan want to be our distributors. We expect we’ll form partnerships with 5-6 distributors in the Asian market after the fair. We are happy to be granted the ‘Most Scanned Exhibitor’ award, indicating many buyers are interested in this innovative product. The Scan2Match feature is a useful tool which allows us to obtain a list of potential buyers who have scanned our QR code.

As the market for traditional frames is saturated, we started to develop smart eyewear four years ago. We are a long-term supporter of the Hong Kong International Optical Fair. In collaboration with Huawei, we are introducing Stepper Opti AI system at this year’s fair. By adding AI elements and using big data, Stepper Opti AI system helps wearers to choose personalised optical frames based on their personalities, face shape and appearance. The new Stepper x Huawei smart eyewear collection features the projection of text messages and maps onto the lenses. International buyers including those from Mainland China and Southeast Asia are very interested in Stepper Opti AI system. We are happy to have found potential distributors from Mainland China and Southeast Asian countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. Chilli Beans is a leading eyewear retailer in Brazil mainly selling sunglasses. We are going to open 200 new optical stores next year. This is my first time visiting the Hong Kong International Optical Fair. It is a good place for me to find new products and new suppliers and meet our existing suppliers who are also exhibiting here. The Click2Match platform is very amazing and helps me to find what I need. Through the Click2Match meetings, I have found six potential suppliers of handmade acetate charms for sunglasses, titanium sunglasses, acetate sunglasses and optical frames. I have reserved a budget of US$110,000 for placing trial orders for sunglasses with new suppliers identified at the Hong Kong International Optical Fair. The Scan2Match feature is very useful because it allows me to keep favourite suppliers in the HKTDC Marketplace app after scanning their QR codes.

Grey Sunglasses imports sunglasses and sells to large fashion retailers in Europe. Business atmosphere at this year’s Hong Kong International Optical Fair is better than last year. I am here looking for new designs for sunglasses and cases as well as new materials for making optical frames. Consumers in Europe prefer eco-friendly sunglasses certified with the Global Recycled Standard (GRS). The Green Products Supplier label makes it easier for me to identify suppliers who offer sustainable products. So far, I have found three to four potential suppliers of acetate sunglasses, leather optical cases and acetate. I’ll place orders for US$4,000 worth of acetate and US$7,000 worth of acetate sunglasses with two good suppliers at the fair. I like the Scan2Match feature which allows me to bookmark interesting suppliers in the HKTDC Marketplace app without the need to keep their business cards.

It is a good show featuring so many producers and suppliers from different countries and regions. I can meet with both new and existing suppliers to discuss business plans. I bought 2,000 pairs of optical frames from a good supplier after last year’s fair. I met with this supplier again at this year’s fair and placed an onsite order worth US$60,000. In addition, I have found two to three potential suppliers of sunglasses and optical frames from Mainland China.

Our company is a leading distributor of sunglasses, optical frames, lenses and contact lenses in Vietnam. I am a frequent visitor of the Hong Kong International Optical Fair because it is easier for me to find good suppliers in this fair and communicate with them in English. This time I have found potential suppliers of coloured contact lenses, optical lenses, optical cleaning cloth and optical cases. I plan to place an order for US$20,000 worth of coloured contact lenses with a Korean supplier because coloured contact lenses are popular among young people. I am also considering buying US$15,000-20,000 worth of colour-changing lenses with UV protection which are new in the Vietnamese market. The Scan2Match feature is helpful because I can store the list of favourite suppliers in the HKTDC Marketplace app and keep in touch with them.

Inverti sells consumer goods to customers in Poland through its online store. To diversify into optical products, I have come to the Hong Kong International Optical Fair for the first time to look for optical frames, lenses, lens fitting service, smart eyewear and cases. I am surprised to have found six potential suppliers of all the products and services that I need to start optical business. I’ll buy samples of optical frames, lenses, smart eyewear and cases on the last day of the fair to test the market first.
